SWOT analysis of RSS — Weakness
Ahem… err… Writing about somebody’s weakness always throws one in poor light.
As Christ said, “Four fingers point back to you”.
As Kabir said, “When I turn back, I see all the defects in me”.
All these are excuses not to criticise. As a seeker of truth, I have to criticise — not for the sake of criticism… but because I see those defects in the organisation. However, I must mention that I am a staunch Hindu and my criticism of RSS as well as Hindu society should be only taken in a constructive way… Most of the defects of RSS and Hindu society have its roots in the long successive history of Hindu defeats.
My work is also made easy since there were stalwarts before me who criticised the RSS in right earnest. Of course, I don’t take the Mullah-Missionary-Marxist criticisms of RSS seriously because these pseudosecularists are mental cases. Besides, I have given the solution to every weakness. I hope that the ageing leaders would take some regular vitamin pills of my choice.
Weakness No. 1: Gerontocracy:
The RSS is an ageing organisation caught in a time warp. Most of the leaders are stuck in 1977 Emergency and have not moved forward ever since. As noted Indologist Koenraad Elst said, the RSS is like a clumsey dinosauraus. It has a large body but a small brain. I am of course referring to the intellectual incoherence of RSS. Their baudhiks (intellectual doctrines) are best only on a captive audience. It can’t stand the test of a seasoned intellectual. Moreover, they are cast in a mould and cannot move out of it. In a single word, the RSS is an ageing organisation that is caught in a time warp.
Panacea: Hand over the reins of power to the new generation and go to sleep.
Weakness No. 2: Stunted Growth:
The late RSS Idealogue Dattopant Thengadi once said that the Hindu worldview is gaining acceptance. However, he also hastened to add that the organisation has not kept pace with the ideology. The organisation has several snags. There is a reason for this. Every organisation or movement has a saturation point. I don’t know if this is the saturation point for RSS… but the fact is that the RSS has not kept pace with change. Most of the daily Shakhas are dwindling.. not because Hindutva is not in fashion…. but because there is a serious snag in the organisation. Today, the RSS camps are running in large numbers. Sangh stores are having good business. More knickers are sold than ever before.. but there is no daily shakha attendance as the swayamsewaks give some excuse or the other. We may blame it on the globalisation routine… but that would be just an excuse. Mass organisation has taken its toll on creativity and zest.
Panacea: Practise Zen meditation everyday.
Weakness No. 3: Dominatrix:
Most of the activists have complained about domination. It seems as if the norm is just dominate and survival of the fittest. It is certainly not the Hindu way of life. Nobody likes being dominated and remote controlled. However, these two seem to have become a mantra for growth…. Now you know why people avoid the organisation although the network is raking in the moolah. There is no problem if one think in terms of finance.. but the human resource wing is botched.
Panacea: Read the Mad Book on “How to lose friends and Irritate People”.
Weakness No. 4: Masochism, Gandhigiri & Sexual repression:
To be frank, this is not the RSS defect.. but a defect of Hindu society. Masochism, Gandhigiri and sexual repression. And this is a problem that Gandhi magnified and one which RSS internalised.
Gandhi inflicted maximum damage on Hindu society with his docile brahmacharya and cowardly ahimsa.. Brahmacharya is not an outcome of sexual repression. It is the transcendence of sex. Non-violence is not cowardice.. but the transcendence of violence and is an act of courage. Through the Gandhian brahmacharya and non-violence, Hindu society has become emasculated and cowardly.
The RSS far from denouncing Gandhi has imbibed his weakness of late.
Panacea: Every Hindu if he considers himself as one should read Osho’s breathtaking book: From Sex to Superconsciousness.
Weakness No. 5: A passion for outer growth:
Senior leader Ashok Singhal once said that these days there is a loss of adhyathma and gain of pradarshan in the new crop. Know what it means. Building buildings and a passion for outer growth has replaced the zest for inner growth. That’s a serious issue.
Panacea: Do some Kapalabathi along with Baba Ramdev.
I can go on and on about the RSS defects… but I don’t want to be termed as a cry baby.. So I will take the next step.

I think the RSS lacks a clear cut vision or goal or at least it is not clear to the majority of people. What the RSS stands for and what it intends to achieve should be clearly communicated to the masses because for a movement to succeed it needs the support of the common people and people will only support if – a) they believe in the cause b) they think it is achievable.
